Sorry to all in run group 8 for dumping oil going into turn 1. you dont expect a motor with 3.5 miles on it to pop like that. i did my best to get out of the way. i will be back in August!

No worries. It was not actually that bad. Just a little added fun.
It went away in one lap.

I'm glad it didn't ruin anyone elses weekend. On the bright side, I had a nice front row seat for the remainder of the race. Now I just have to figure out why it blew up at 5000 rpms! I think it was a timing issue, had no pull from 2000-4000 which im sure everyone figured out as they past me going up the hill. I just wish it made it to lap 9 so I could have gotten credit for the race...

No pull from 2000-4000 could also be VCT (or what ever Nissan's VTEC acronym is), which, if I recall correctly, is dependent on oil pressure (among other things).

That is one of the things that we are looking at. There are 2 VTC sprockets in that motor, however they only have an 8 degree range of motion I believe. Enough to allow for power lose, but a far stretch to get to the motor blowing as it did. The problem is determining whether I had 2 seperate issues, one that caused the lack of power and another that blew something through the side of the block, or if they were one and the same. We are also going to take a close look at the bearings and see what they show. Maybe one of them was not sized or installed correctly. I just have to get it out of the car and take a look.
