I doubt it is but never hurts to ask. Click on the link below. Looks like a seat modification for tall people. Just curious. Thanks

If you're looking for a protest, there are many BSI SMs down here with that modification. It's pretty common.

I don't agree with its legality, but I haven't heard of any paper being written over it.

I have noticed a few miata's that seem to be sitting lower than is possible. Looked for the converter hump, and it was gone! I can see the reasoning for this, I saw a guy driving a miata that was like a NFL lineman who put on a hundred or so. Without the humpectomy, he would have been running with his shoulder out the window net! I know we have to draw lines, but they should be smart lines.

I did not cut mine out like that, but I did beat mine down so my seat would fit.
I am that linebacker you are talking about. 6'5" 250lbs.
If I am getting protested over the safety items, that just means I was in front of you when we finished.

This is supposed to be a gentlemens sport. As such, if you aren't running something that is blatantly illegal, and you beat me, good job. Of course, in my last race a moped would have lapped me, but I had a section missing from one exhaust valve and the head gasket blown between two other cylinders.

On another approach, I have never participated in or initiated a protest. This is supposed to be fun. If it is not, I will find something else to do that is fun!!!!

I don't think it's a requirement that protests be filed only against someone who beats the protester.

The original question was, "is this legal". I don't think anyone would seriously have a problem with it. But like many rules in IT (like the jacking pad debate), it's meant to keep people from going beyond the original intent.

I'll have to look at my car when I get home. I can tell you it doesn't have the floor cut out like that. I'm 6'5" and fit. I only have maybe an inch or two above my helmet, but I fit. I believe the seat is mounted to the original seat bracket in the front and some welded in brackets in the rear.

I could definately see the hammered out floor passing over the cut and replaced floor. When you get right down to it, you wouldn't get my respect for filing this protest. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." How high are we setting the bar? I was standing in the pits when Dr. Jim Roberts came in to the pits at the runoffs with the bumper cover of his 200SX off and big holes torched through the bumper beam. When he later won the SSA race in a 300ZX that same weekend, the stewards and Tech men were crawling over that car before it stopped moving. I don't ever want to be someone who people make comments about the need to weigh the bolts......!!!
