In honor of the first annual IT Festival at Mid-Ohio, we are willing to offer up some free entertainment in the form of a crash test at the nearby Delphi lab. Please keep in mind that we are just throwing out the idea. We have no firm plans to test in August, but if we do we would be happy to schedule around that weekend if anyone wants to observe.

It's a couple hours down the road near Dayton, and we would probably shoot for Thursday or Monday, with Thursday being our first choice.

And to prove that we are not the classic gearhead geeks everyone believes us to be, there will probably be beer and/or scotch involved--though not while on the road.

You can probably guess which one I chose, but really, I'd probably make the trip out to Dayton on Thursday for it. It kind of depends if the car's all ready to go and I don't need to be working on it instead.

I bet I could probably guess my two haters. :P

Hey, if we do it on Monday, we can put either Greg or Kevin in the helmet. If we do it on Thursday, we'll have to put both of them in. New poll - separately or together?

Gee Gregg, can't we do it at the track? I'll bet a couple NER guys would volunteer. Take one Isaac car and one HANS car and start them on the back straight in opposite directions. They can meet on the front straight where we all can see. Sounds like a lot of fun. Do it after the last race and they won't miss a thing.

Well, with 40% of the respondents showing a clear preference for sugaring Amy's tank, perhaps he'd be best off putting his efforts into running a cotton candy stand between races?

Okay, so we have four who would like to observe a test--almost half the number who want to assault Amy's tank. Not bad. That's a good number as a large crowd may be a bit much.

What crash test would you guys like to see? As I mentioned in the first post, we have no current plans to test, so it's wide open. If it's at Delphi we will run the 30 degree offset SFI 38.1 test, but we can crash any product under the sun--even something you drag along with you.

So, what product do you want to bang around?

Aw c'mon guys. Surely something comes to mind.

Let's throw out a couple of ideas:

1. Crash an Isaac Link on the Delphi sled. We've never done this. Wayne State yes, Delphi no.
2. Crash a HANS device per SFI spec.
3. Crash an Isaac Link on the Delphi sled using a helmet that has HANS mounts. (Oooooo. )
4. Crash something brand new.
5. Crash another competing product.

Thoughts?
