hey guys. I'm trying to figure out what FD gear ratio to go with. Anyone care to share their top speed at Mid-Ohio back streight in an ITS car? I'm thinking 130max, or would I run out of gear?

IIRC the top trap speed in E Production for the 2005 Runoffs was Bob Neal in his 1st gen RX-7 at 133 mph on the back straight.

When Chris Ludwig views your request I am sure he will post his top speed at Mid Ohio with his 2nd gen RX-7 ITS car.

My ITA Integra is doing an "as indicated by the stock speedometer" ~117mph when I hit the brakes at the end of the backstraight at Mid Ohio. So I guess I'd expect a good ITS car to be hitting right around 125-130'ish.

Somewhere around 130. Probably south of that just a bit. Never had data aquisition and I'm not looking at the tach there.

Sorry for the OT, but, while we're discussing top speeds, anyone want to share top speeds at Road Atlanta in ITA?? Mine is under 120.

In 7/05 when my engine was making 168 rwhp the best I got on my Pi was 123. Get a better run off the keyhole and you're at 125, go a bit deeper at the end and you're at 126. Drive a Bimmer or like Chris and you're right there at 130!

Chris is about to build me a new one and he's guaranteeing 130. Right, Chris?

From my data back there with a GT car might I suggest you would be better to gear the diff for the best all around (twisty stuff" gear than to worry about max revs down the long straight. Getting out of the carousel and they keyhole will mean more than 1or2 peak MPH down the straight.

    Jake,

Kevin Fandozzi 's Neon did 118 at Road Atlanta.

My ITA Neon sees around the same at Mid-O. Exit out of the Key Hole has lots to do with it.

NOT FAST ENOUGH! I would have to check my notes on the Tr8. I want to say it was just over 125. I am hoping it should be one on the better cars in ITS for top speed with it's v8 torque and decent aero for IT. Also the 5th gear is not a true overdrive so it does pull decent in 5th. Now just getting it to stop is another matter. I will check my files when a get a chance for the accurate speed.

I think 121-123 is correct based on my tach.

You've already said the secret is getting out of the keyhole. Actually the secret, are you listening Marty?, is weight jacking the car to go right. That's how you get around M-O. And that's the end of my drunken New Year's Eve advice.

Last time I was there we ran the pro course, and I hit 110mph (true speed, calibrated) in my now ITB car. I gotta imagine it's good for 112-115 now.

Uh oh. Drunken secret giving = never a good idea. :P

I was hitting just a little bit more at the end of the backstraight at Road Atlanta, so figure about 123'ish. I haven't been on Mid Ohio yet though with my current engine.

Dave, it was me last September.

Oh, I'm always listening, just not always good at correctly applying.

BTW, do you think you'll make it to the IT Festival?

Not to piss on his New Year, but, I wonder if Kevin, "I do it for the fans" (all 3 of them), realizes, "these races are "NON-SPECATOR" events?

as i recall, Mid-Ohio was selling tickets for NASA Nationals.

i know Kevin did not do for the competitors, so it must have been for the fans. i know it was a heart stopping moment to see someone's car you know upside down like that

In EP with the motor turning to 10k and a 512 gear, I would nomally see 129-132. I would think that with the rev limiting ports of the ITS cars you would be getting to quicker and using more of 5th but going not nearly as fast. With the differance in lap times I would guess at the ITS top at about 121-125
