pulley question

9.1.3 1 n. It says " Alternate waterpump,alternator,power steering, and crankshaft pulleys of any diameter or material may be used..."

Upon first reading I thought it meant you coud use any waterpump,alternator, powersteering pump, or crankshaft pulley. Does it mean to say," Alternate pulleys ON water pumps,alternators, power steering pumps, and crakshafts can be of any material." ?

I assume it means the pulleys are unrestricted,not the actual alt or P/S pump.
