unless there is a hidden story that I haven't heard that would explain how two cars could be an entire lap ahead of the rest of the ITS field[/b]
it looks like they are the only ones that did not get laped by the TCC corvetes

Check out mplaps.com and you will see that ITS ran with TCC. The fastest TCC car won with a fast lap of 1.32. I would guess that the winner of TCC passed the third place ITS car on the 20th lap then crossed the finished line before passing 1st and 2nd in ITS. This would have allowed the 1st and 2nd place cars to complete their 20th laps while the race would have ended on lap 19 for the 3rd place racer.

    Congrats to Greg Amy.

Kudos to Ruck and the Mosers!

    Tim,

Isn't it nice to know that 2 of the last three years ARRC winning ITA cars are in our Region? :P

    Andy,

I hadn't noticed that... thanks for pointing it out! Too bad the BMW guys couldn't see fit to show up and put their complaints to the test... Perhaps they were afraid that they'd provide some proof that the 27mm restrictor was the right call after all...

Great to see such a good mix of cars... Hopefully that provides incentive for may others out there to give it a go... IT Looks like it's heading strongly into the future!

Great work guys and congrats to those who participated...

Great attitude for the chairman of the ITAC. No agenda or bias here.

Except for ITS. After the BMW debacle of this year nobody in there right mind would sink the kind of money into a car that we have seen in previous years. That's what IT social engineering brings, unintended consequences...

Funny, nobody is concerned that two different Mazda models walked away from the ITS field. Things are finally right in the ITS universe...

Great work guys and congrats to those who participated...

Congratulations to all of the winners and participants!

Last time I checked... I am not the chairman of the ITAC... I'm allowed to have any agenda I want now... And the fact that track records are still being set with restricted BMWs favors my opinion... Namely that once these guys figured out (WITH an EXTENSIVE amount of ITAC help, I will add...) how to install these things properely, they'll work just fine... and they do... It's the same opinion I've had, and supported, from the beginning, ITAC Chair or not... It's what happens when you can take an objective look at the topic...

You're right... heaven forbid cars have to race on a level playing field or actually have to put money into BUILDING a race motor...

    Have fun!

As noted above the ITS cars were grouped in a split start with the TCC Corvettes, which was an unhappy grouping. The winning Vette lapped most ITS cars, except the leaders, but the leading ITS cars were into Corvette traffic early. Corvette traffic played a role in the finish.

But, some quick points...Amy made the final lap in tech and keeps the trophy.

It's a cool event, and the track is awesome. I'm glad I dragged my underprepared rusty ass down here. Good to be back in the car, and back cruising around RA.

I'm sad that my car, an IT7, is in the ITA group, as the ITA race is a great one to watch, LOL

ITB was pretty close......but where have all the Volvos, 2002s and Golfs gone?? Chris Albin had SO much electrical trouble that he never turned a wheel and missed his first ARRC in, I think, 12 years.

Glad to see the VW in 2nd in the ITC array of Hondas.

And we got the races in before the skys opened. Can't wait to come back!

The ITS cars running with the TCC Vettes was a joke. What were they thinking???? David Spillman was running a solid 3rd and got taken by one of the TCC cars damaging his quick 240Z.

Just so this doesn't get lost, I'll be glad to debate this decision with anyone who ever had responsibility for putting over 300 cars into seven race groups in one day:

We had 27 ITS cars pre-registered in Group 5 (the smallest of the "normal" IT Groups) and over 60 cars in Group 6 (SPO, GTA, LMSC, ITO and TCC), 15 of which were TCC Corvettes. The stewards were considering having split qualifying sessions for Group 6 with each session being 15 minutes, but besides extending the day that also penalizes guys that towed over 800 miles one-way to be at the event. Moving the TCC cars into Group 5 created two groups of 40-45 cars with similar speed and size characteristics, and I fully support the Stewards decisions to do so.

As far as the TCC cars messing up the ITS race, the conditions were the same for everyone. Part of racing is dealing with traffic, some slower and some faster. Next year ITS will have to share the track with ITR (assuming that happens), so that class's days of being the stars of their own show are over - it just happened a year earlier than I thought it would. And even if it was an all ITS race in 2006, who's to say an ITS back-marker wouldn't have affected the eventual outcome either?

And don't tell me to "dis-invite" the non-IT cars because they are making up a larger percentage of the participation every year, they're paying the same entry fee as everyone else and deserve the same amount of track time for their money.

Congratulations to the winners, condolences to the non-winners and we hope to see y'all in 2007 (we've already begun the planning process)...

Originally when I heard how far many people travel to attend this event I thought they were crazy. Last year I decided to make the trek (~17 hour tow) and understood. Even though I didn't have my car this year, the event was a blast. I even learned why Joe is named "Crazy Joe". LOL

Greg and Matt, congratulations on your ITA win!! That was awesome. You just knew I'd have to throw this video up here.

This is the first time that Chris has missed the ARRC race. He started racing in 1993 and did the last "thing" in Topeka (blanking on name of event right now), and has not missed an ARRC until this year. He is very frustrated right now; as I understand it, the car is dead in the water at this point and will have to be pushed into the trailer.

It's going to be a long winter.......
