My hats off to the ITB and ITA podium winners. I know that ITB was hotly contested and yes, sad to say, Tim won this won, but Tim, YOU CAN'T win the next one! I'm making my VW mechanical voodoo doll as we speak!

Hey - thanks for the words - and it's been a great season for ITB! NERRC had quite a few story lines running through it, actually.

    - Paul Curran getting his new "flying brick" to finally get going towards the end of the season

    - The Canadians DOMINATING the races that they ran at NHIS - pretty good, eh?

    - Raymond and Stephen battling each other , and then battling their mechanical gremlins (Gremlins win in a double tag team grudge match!)
    - Jim McMahon making his "comeback" and looking faster than ever!

    - Tommy Kelly getting his VW MKIII onto the track, then getting Richie Hunter to drive the wheels off it!

    - Nat Wentworth retiring his Saab and putting (on no!) another "flying brick" on the track - and already he's fast!

    - Eli and Matt using their car as a battering ram at turn 2 (NHIS) - ouch!!

    - Dave Gran going out so early in the season...........what could have been????

    - Rick Benazic getting his little Honda beasty into ITB, and kickin' butt all over the place!

And now one more race - for all the marbles in NARRC! tons o' fun!

And Trish, you don't need to use voodoo on the VW - just help Raymond with his rain dance!!

    later,

As long as his expert doesn't give him lessons for turn 1/2 at NHIS Tim will be all set

Tim, great write up... I am not sure about you, but in addition to your write up for the first half of the season even though Scott never showed we were always planning on how much of a points jump we could get on him. I was always relieved not to see the yellow swedish pit!!! But who knows for the NARRC Runoffs??? and I am sure he will be back next season with his new crew!

Looking forward to watching the NARRC in a few weeks. (Looking forward even more to racing my soon to be faster Prelude next year!)

Who said these were final? I don't think that these (http://www.ner.org/RR1/06/POINTS_2006.pdf) are the final points standings (as of 10/16/06) since:

    1) the 7/23 Glen race NERRC points are not yet included (it counts, see http://www.ner.org/RR1/06/06schedule.htm and Glen entry form),

    2) the 6/17 Lime Rock errors are still there (at least in ITC where no-shows received finishing position points plus track bonus points, see accurate results here http://www.mylaps.com/results/showevent.jsp?id=143903), and

    3) the points for excess races have not been dropped (I think only the best 9 count, see http://www.ner.org/RR1/docs/06NERRC_rules.pdf).

If you ask me the points dilema is interesting to say the least. The '06 NERRC Rules say you total nine out of ten races to determine the champion. Now I realize that there were 11 races on the schedule and maybe the rules were never updated, but they are the rules - right? I am curious what all the (i) dotters and (t) crossers will have to say about this - I know there are many who live (and die) by the letter of the law. Makes you wonder what to do? It should be interesting to see which race becomes the least important. I am hoping it will be the one that moves me past Andy B.

I wouldn't object to dropping the race that I crashed out (someday I'll get T-3 in the rain),or the one I got intimate with Erik and Joe

Tim, the "drops" won't matter: seems everyone of the top guys in ITA had at least two "zero" races (including me; I skipped three of the listed events). So, whether we drop one or two, the result is the same. The key here is whether the WGI race counts.

Honestly, you can pick from the sharp end of that field and any/everyone deserves it. Regardless of the outcome, I'm flattered to have been a part of the ITA Class of '06. - GA
