Thread: Clutch burnin

    Anyway, got another random question. I understand how a clutch works and what most of it's parts are but when you can smell the clutch burn (i know it's not good) but what am I actually smelling is it just the pad burning or something else. Its not constant anyway....just when I abuse it somewhat too much.

    you are smelling the friction material burning;

    Not Good; re-examine your driving style and keep your foot off the clutch when not using it.

    Make sure the clutch pedal free play is adjusted properly, too.

    Sorry Joe, different strokes for different folks.

    If yer resting your foot on the clutch pedal while racing & that is impacting your disc slip/smell add a slightly stronger return spring to your clutch pedal lever.

    oh ya...i dont usually smoke it...just once in a great while when im goin harder than usual and just from a dead stop.....I was more or less just making sure all thats burning is the pad.
