Does a 325 smallblock bolt up to the 5 speed trans of the 320I?? I cant sell the 320 for 100$ so I found a 325 car for another 100$ and want to stuff the 6 into the little critter. Help. MM

It looks like your E21 has a Getrag 240 which was also used in the 4 cyl E30s. From the picture in the TIS it looks like it will bolt up to a 6 cyl but it probably isn't strong enough to handle the torque.

You may be able to use a Getrag 260 from a 6 cyl E30 without having to shorten the driveshaft. There's no way to tell from the TIS.

Nope, it won't bolt up. What most guys use is a trans from a e21 323i. I could only find a 323i 5spd bellhousing, so I put that onto my e21 4cyl trans, and it works fine. So you'll have to start looking for a e21 323i trans, or at least a bellhousing. Although it may be easier to stuff a e30 5speed in there, I believe the e21 tunnel has room.

    hope that helps

Turns out the big six bolts up to the old 4cyl trans. The little six does not bolt up to this trans.. Thanks. BTW I have a 83 5spd that fits a 2002 or 320I, adds a nice OD 5th gear. 150$. Thanks. MM
