HPE event questions

newb here, my Car is almost ready to go, and I am gearing up to do some hpe events and I was wondering, must I put in a second race seat and harness for an instructor? or will an o.e. seat and belt work? also, how are these events timed? use my own transponder?

any advice?

For most Hpde events (PDX in SCCA speak) you need a second seat with equal restraints. In other words if you have race belts for the driver you need them for the instructor. I would think the seat would have to be a race seat as well but ask the organizer of the event you want to do. Ask around and see if anyone has out of date belts for the right side. At PDX there is normally no timing so you do not need a transponder.
