I will be running the SARRC race at VIR and may also run an ECR 1.5 hour race. I was just wondering if most ITS 944's have to re-fuel during the 5 min. pit stop. My 944 will weigh legal on empty, so that's not a concern. Is it worth starting with fuel to go about halfway, then refueling to go the distance?

I have no idea if you can go the distance or not (I would expect you can) but if discover that you can go the distance on one tank, save that 5 minutes for a minor repair or to just relax. Good Luck!!!

You can go 2 hours + on a tank of gas - I usually start with 3/4 tank, finish with around 1/4 tank

You should be able run 90 min on a tank.

2hrs is pusshing it if you have the smaller steel tanks on the 83-85 cars or 924S.

The early steel tank cars are 17.4 gallons while the 85.5 and later cars (including the S) run 21.2 gallon tanks.

I have run 90 min on tank in my 17.4 gallon 84 car. Of course if you are pushing 20% more hp than my stock motor car you may burn more fuel.

I have the 21.2 gallon tank - we ran a 6 hour enduro last month, after two hours of hard driving we still showed about 1/4 tank - that's why 944's make great enduro cars - espically in long races with no mandatory pit stops

    Thanks for the replies!
We do have the early fuel tank and a sickeningly stock motor.
Looking forward to VIR in March.
