    Installing the oil temp guage on our 2nd gen RX7 have an auto sport comp guage question is where is the best place to take the temp reading from??? the car I removed it from had it in the oil pan..

    I've always been partial to getting the reading as close to the motor as possible. The one place I would guard against is after the oil cooler. The pan is good, as would be the line from the engine to the oil cooler (I'm assuming a mechanical gauge).

    Some companies make the oil filter adapters with NPT holes for the electric sensors, so that may be an option as well.

    Tom, if ya want the max oil temp install the temp sender in the oil pan. Keep in mind that your rotary oil also cools the motor rotors.
