So I had this idea: let's get all the race Escorts, Escort GT's, and EXPs together at one track. All classes, any year Escort based racecar.

Event: Freedom Dbl Regional hosted by the Cincy Region SCCA
Location: Mid Ohio in Lexington Ohio
    When: July 1 - 2, 2006 (approx)

It's a regularly scheduled SCCA event. We'll just be using it to race & get together as a group.
Of course crew will also be needed, so even non-racers can attend.

I've posted this idea on www.feoa.net already

    Who's interested?

Actually sounds like a cool idea. I have run that event in the past, but do Mercury Lynx's count??

Might be tough to get Chris Johnson and Gary Ernst to make the tow, however.

Dave Flinchbaugh supposedly sold his car to a non-road racer, Dr. Jon changed to a AS Mustang; Lee Kauffman's car is sort of for sale.

There is an EXP in New England and a couple other 1st gens in Florida.

I do not track the Mazda variants of the 2nd Gen.

Mercury = Ford with LocTight, so yes!!! I got the Tracer LTS added to the ITA list, so I wouldn't think of excluding my Mercury cousins. So Lynx & Tracers are welcomed. My debate is should we include the Protoge? The 91 - 96 EGT is Protoge based. I wouldn't say no to them. Anyone I'm forgetting?

Chris was entered in the Cheap Date at NHIS and I was going to tell him about this idea, but he didn't show.

I saw a couple of EXPs at the 2000 ARRC. I think they were based in PA. There were 2 ZX2s at the 2003 Freedom Dbl. They are from that area & run there a lot.

In the 2000 ARRC, one of the EXP(s) was Lee Kauffman and Dr. Jon ran ithe ARRC once too with his EGT (1st Gen).

I did not see Chris at the Glen this year either...curious.

Maybe I'll give him a call.

    Cheers.

    Bump.

I guess we could include Foci. I don't know of any racing yet. If there are I'd like to know. I have an 02 SVTf for my Summer daily driver.

I'd like to do this but am limited in funds. Frank & I may concentrate on Enduros...maybe. So it's a big maybe. If 2005 was typical of an enduro season, if we run three events there's a possibility we could win ITA enduro for the season.

I don't know Chris Johnson but if he's 2004 NESCCA ITC (black Escort w/ Merc Lynx grill) champ we always cross over the #41.

If that's him he was scheduled for the May 2005 LRP event but didn't go.

How about we all do the WGI enduro in Sept instead?

    Dave Ford

PS an enduro would allow ITA, ITB & ITC to be all out at once.

An Enduro does get you more track time per dollar, but it still only counts as ONE race. Mid Ohio is a double regional, so you get 2 races. That'll at least get you your minimum events.

I don't think ITC was running with us at Mid Ohio, so you wouldn't have to surrender your number Dave. It was a nice jesture though. He was scheduled for the events at NHIS but didn't show up to those either. Not sure why.

Should we include the ITA Proteges too? I say yes. That'll get us a good comparison between the EGT & Protege on the same track.
    Any opinions?

PS- Prophet has to go. I won't let him NOT go

For 2007 I think the EGT/EXP meet should be at VIR.

I need to bump this up.

I'm still going. I have a decent size crew going too.

Dave doesn't think he will (but he had a great finish at Pocono with co-driver Frank in the Enduro: 3rd place in ITA).
