Stock fuel pump on my 83 Spec 7 is causing me to run very lean, and my plugs are taking a beating. What do you recommend? And can you give me the benefits of one brand/model over another? I have had Carter and Delco recommended but would welcome more info.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I've got a Carter and a Holley on my two cars, and have had no problems with either. They're both mounted solidly to metal and are L-O-U-D. An EP car I just did some work on has some rubber grommets and that thing is almost as silent as the stock pump, so I recommend making sure you mount it with some grommets or something else to dampen it.

Most important from being under several different cars is to mount the pump near the bottom of the tank so you don't run into problems with it sucking air.

We have a big ole Carter P-4070 in our RX-7s with Fram HPG-1 fuel filter.
