    Default Looking for new trailor

Looking for suggestions. Budget precludes an enclosed unit. So, open or covered bed, steel or alum. ect. I will be using a Grand Cherokee with v8 to pull.

There was a newish trailex on eBay. Bidding had not gotten up there yet.

    It was in PA somewhere.

    Search eBay motors for "Trailex".

I would like to stay under $2000. Is that realistic??

$2K? Oh yeah. I bought my new Load Trail 16' wood deck open two years ago for $1550. Just a basic trailer; I didn't want anything fancy, just something to get me through until I bought an enclosed.

I was going to sell it once I made the change, but decided it's just too handy to have around.

How far are you willing to travel to get one? I bought mine near Menomonee, WI (about 1 hour north of Eau Claire) for ~$1800. It's a 20' open trailer with wood deck and dove tail. Really nice trailer and a really good price.

Unfortunately, they don't have a website, but, if you're interested, I can give you their contact information (I'll have to grab it off my trailer...).

I grew up in northern WI so that would be fine. I will be up near Florence over Mem day weekend. Could you get me that info?

    OK, I found it:

    Johnson Trailer Co.
E7290 State Road 170 (4 Miles west of Colfax on Highway 170)
    Colfax, WI 54730
    Phone: 715.962.3277
    Fax: 715.962.9125

    Hours: M-F: 8-5, Sat 8-Noon

I bought a 7000# GVW 20' Road Warrior trailer with electric brakes on one axle and a dove tail for $1750 (including tax). Unlike other places, all components, including tires, were brand new. This was, by far, the best deal I found.

    Good Luck!

Bill--Ask them if they would put brakes on all axles. Extra money well spent!

    Joe:

Already purchased the trailer last year. I didn't worry about having them install the extra brakes as I have a complete set at home ready to install (was going to install on tow dolly, but smartened up and bought a real trailer). Installing these is one of the things on my list of things to do this year....

Hey Doug....give Adams Enterprises a call in McHenry, they had some pretty darn good prices.

I have a very good friend who is in the trailer business. He sells mostly open car haulers, with a wide variety of options. Steve has a website that lets you configure your trailer and get a price. Delivery is available anywhere in the lower 48.

Owners name is Steve Flowers, and he's a straight-shooter.
