Default Ford Probe turn ITB car is almost done

Just an update on my progress. I have almost everything ready. I only need to get the cage in, the window net set and the master cut off installed. I also still need to submit the car for classification to SCCA but thats the eaisiest part of this project. The car weight was 2600lbs. with it gutted with the air conditioning and heating units completly installed and functioning. I was thinking of leaving them in initialy because Buttonwillow can get pretty hot. And to have an IT car with air conditioning would be pretty nice on a hot grid. Anyhoo, I'm hoping for a ITB classification and a F-Production classification. So the car could be used in National competition.

Its first outing I wasnt to fast but it was its first outing. I ran a 2:17.850 at California Speedway.

Yup that was me.. My web site was sponsoring the "Women in Motorsports" event that weekend and since there was racing involved I took the opportunity to get a feel for full competition racing at a course I always wanted to race at. So I was really excited about the whole thing. The cool part was them allowing me to run in HPDE group 4. I didnt know if they were going to take my experience into account or not. I was almost the slowest car out there (HP wise) but I was just as clean and smooth as the Porche and Corvette, etc drivers. I never spun or got any wheels off. It was just an incredible weekend and I hope that more people enjoy watching Women Racecar Drivers.

Yeah the Miata and that race truck really had some major incidences. I believe one driver had to take a trip to the hospitol. I guess people were really pushing it hard and driving over their limits. I do hope they all are doing ok.

Stacey - when you make your case for ITB classification, make sure you point out that the Probe's mechanically identical cousin, the Mazda MX-6, is already classified in ITB.

Why this car isn't already classified is a mystery.

And don't delay! It can take awhile!

Thankfully, the Probe is already in, because it would suck to build a car, THEN find out they don't see the need to classify it!

And be sure to actually race it...the CRB is getting a bit annoyed with people asking for, and getting classified, but never turning a wheel. It sounds like you're ready to go, though!

Also note that the requirements for Prod and IT are different. You won't be able to race in both classes. Making the car legal for one will make it illegal for the other, and vice versa.
