Default Wonder if the Sunbelft powered ITS cars will show up

I have heard they will but the question at hand is will they pass the tear down? We all know the success (fast lap times) they have had with the cars this year. They have to be making some good power but I wonder if it is all legal power. My guess is not as there was a rumor floating around the paddock they used Titanium Rods. I think someone should protest them and find out. What do you guys think about the motors in those cars?

Umm, yeah, what is up with this? This is your second post, and, iirc, you're first one was equally accusational (about the BMW's, I believe).

Post your name and some information to back it all up. I demand Tech!

Sunbelt builds a lot of SM and IT car motors I think... not sure, but I always hear the name floating around... but I can not imagine that they would put their name on the line with illigal motors when they are so big.

Great replies from you guys. Serious post and you take it that way. You are right I don't post here often but I read the site everyday and I do race. I can't make it to the ARRC this year because I sold my car. That doesn't mean I can't speculate about it. So flame on if you must but those are legitmate questions.

Wonder if tech will be a witchhunt this year? No problems with the Miata with the ported intake manifld last year, or the ballast placement in the 3rd place finishing ITS car - same exact place I was DQed for the year before.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.... I wonder if any rules nerds or conspiracy theorists that can't think outside their narrow world of the GCR will show up? Crap like this kills great events like this....Lets just shut up and RACE....

As an answer, I've had 2 Sunbelt engines in my cars. Both were totally legal. Jim Thompson is both inventive and honest. And has built ARRC winning engines that passed tech. Besides SM and IT, they produce World Challenge stuff too.

    Just my 2 cents.

    James,

Are you going to be there with any cars and who is driving?

I will be there with a few ITS cars owned by customers - not driving at this point though (I have my helmet packed). See you there?

I think the ARRC is one of the most fun races of the year. I personally like the chance to have everything torn down to silence the skeptics.

As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to be serious in my response.

First, you are referring to the ARC BMWs with the Sunbelt motors (I assume). Yes, they are fast. But I have a news flash for you, there are quite a few other E36s all over the country that are just as fast. Mr. Clay's certainly fall into this category.

Are the ARC cars illegal as suggested here??? I dunno. Maybe. Maybe not.

But I will say that when you take a terribly overdogged chassis, put tons of financial backing behind it, and put a driver like Chet W. behind the wheel... Well... The result isn't too terribly much of a surprise now is it.

I personally don't think the cars are illegal simply because they don't NEED to be. But thats just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Yeah I agree with James and think the ARRC is one of the funnest races of the year. But like any race there is going to talk about who is really fast and who isn't. And to some of the people being fast is cheating. I think that is why there has been speculation this year on the Sunbelt motors. I don't anything about them other than Chet is an awesome driver in a car that is hooked up. It makes me wish I still had my car so I could go head to head with him this year.

Anybody got a similar car I can rent? ;-)

Whatever, you guys are all cheating! :P

I've come to realize over the last couple of years that people who cheat (or at least blatantly and/or knowingly) do not come to the ARRC. Yes, people do get DQ'd in tech but it usually seems to be over things that even if I raced against the guy, I wouldn't care about (Clay's ballast example is a fine one). If someone in your region wins everything but always has an excuse of why he won't run the ARRC, I'm sorry, but I'll make the assumption he's cheating. If not, come down to the ARRC, win it, get torn down, and prove me wrong.
