    Default Best Year for S14

Im considering bulding an S14 for ITS. Wanted to see if you guys know of any differences (other than body) I should be aware of between the '95 through '98 S14 240sx.

Also, the 97-98 looks way better than 95-96. Would it be legal to simply replace the front end body work (fender, hood, lights, bumper cover etc) of a 95-96 with 97-98 parts?

95-96 are easy to find cheap, 97-98 not so easy.

    Thanks!

As far as differences go, it really comes down to cosmetic appearance. Other then that, model edition will differ in weight as far as accesories go but that all gets taken out when racing anyways. And also, the early years were available in 4-lug which was considered to be lighter.
And yes, the front end is swappable along with everything else from 95-98 in IT.
if your in the new england area, i may be selling my 95 s14. let me know id interested.

The 4 lugs were available on the base model cars. At least through '97 (and I'd wager 98 too). The SE/LE packages had the 5 lug.

I know that the ECU setup on the 95-96 is a little different. If you get a modified ECU from someone like JWT, you have to use a 95-96 ECU (which is OBDII-v1). They supposedly don't (or can't) tune the 97-98 (OBDII-v2). So there is rewiring to be done outside of the ECU to make the older ECU work in the new cars. This change also requires a different rear O2 sensor: 3 wire vs the newer car's 4-wire. (there's voltage differences, not just wiring differences between the two).

Since they're all on the same line item, I'd guess that even though you are modifying outside of the ECU box, you are only changing the wires to be just like a car on the same line item - so I'd think it would be OK to do.

I have an already built 1995 S14 I'm running in ITS in the Southeast. It may be for sale soon if your interested. E-mail me at [email protected] if interested. There are not many of these out there racing yet that I know of, only 3. If you decide to build I'll be happy to share information. Chris
