    Default E36 Rollcage Tubing

I am building a rollcage for my 93 325is and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of tubing I need to get, how much I need of it, where I can purchase it from and at what price?

    Thanks for your help,
    Jeff

TW Metals. Get DOM and you should get a GCR - don't take anyone's advice as a substitute for the printed rules.

The thickness of the tubing is based on the weight of the car, correct? The minimum is 2800lbs so do I base it off of that? If so, is there a formula I should use?

Do you have a phone number for TW Metals or is that the name of the metal? And how much should I get? What does DOM stand for? Sorry, I am new at this.

    Thanks for your help James.

Jeff - DOM stands for "drawn-over-mandrel", and refers to the process used to manufacture the tubing. As James said, if you're going to be racing in IT then you really need to get the 2003 GCR (General Competition Rules) and read it. You can get an order form from the SCCA website. The GCR will tell you everything you need to know about the roll cage material, tubing size, and basic design requirements. It's the only way to make sure you'll be 100% legal. Oh, and did I mention you should also get a copy of the 2003 GCR?

TW Metals is a supplier, you may have a local supplier also - http://www.tdmaterials.com/

There are too many variables and too much room for error for a quick reply. Our cages are 1.75"x0.095" 4130 DOM.

"Our cages are 1.75"x0.095" 4130 DOM"

Does this apply to your World Challenge cars as well as your ITS cars? Another stupid question but do you use stainless Steel or??

    Thanks again for your help.

WC is a little different but the basis is the same size. 4130 steel.
