    A little more info:

    Announcing a new NASA racing series for Porsche and BMW racecars prepared to SCCA IT, PCA Stock, and BMWCCA Prepared rules in the Great Lakes area.

    German Touring Sportcars Challenge Series
    * Three classes include: M3 vs. 944 Turbo; 325 vs. 944; 2002 vs. 924 and more.
    * Declare which rules and see our weight competition adjustments
    * 30-min. Practice, Qualifying and Sprint Races on both Saturday and Sunday.
    * First event is Apr 4-6, 2003 at Mid-Ohio using the Pro Course
    * BeaveRun, Summit Point, Gingerman, Nelson Ledges, and Putnam events.
    * May 10-11; Jun 21-22; Jul 19-20; Aug 30-Sep 1; Sep 13-14; Oct 11-12
    * Plus Enduros for 3-hours and 6-hours in August and September.
    * HPDE's so your non-racing friends can enjoy the track too.
    * Modified 13/13 rule promotes sportsmanship without penalizing most one-car incidents.
    * Series points count for a year-end championship.
    * Five best finishes count so attending every event is not necessary to win.
    * End of year "Cup" to the winning Manufacturer.

    An exciting new series for the PCA and BMWCCA racer who wants more racing closer to home or doesn't want to sit out a one-car 13/13 infraction. We also welcome SCCA Improved Touring racers who are looking for tight competition and a level playing field.

    This is a trial year. We will monitor participation and evaluate competitiveness throughout the season. The results will be compiled at the end of the year and used as necessary to adjust competitiveness within the classes. The classes will be launched as a full race series with plans to add sponsorship, contingency prizes, and "lead trophy" weight penalty/reward in 2004.

    The series is being started by racers and designed for racers. Our philosophy is we believe the most enjoyable racing is when the competition is fender to fender from the green to the checker. We believe a series develops camaraderie and friendships. And we believe pitting one make against another encourages a friendly rivalry and fosters teamwork. Our goal is a friendly, fast, and safe environment, with equal emphasis on competitiveness and fun.

    BMW E30 IT drivers, what do you think of this NASA series?

    You're not afraid to tackle those Porsche's one-on-one are you?

    I look at this and think, why would I want to race my ITB 2002 against an ITA 924?

    For the joy of running competitively against the slowest ITA car to ever see the track!

    Look at the power/weight ratios - the 924 belongs in ITB, and the 924 is consistent with the other ITB BMW's in GTS1. Remember - we're looking for an even playing field. Come out, see how you match up with us. If you're interested in seeing where you might be competitive - this is it. Race weights will be open to reevaluation and adjustment for 2004 as required to adjust competitiveness.
