    Default Brake Pads for E30 325is

    What pads, where do you buy them, and how much $$$?

    You guys/gals that run Hawk Blues, what pad do you run on the rear since Hawk only has fronts?

    Buy them from us! I like the Hawk HT-10 on the front - takes higher temp than blue and easier on rotors/lasts longer. We usually match with a Mintex 1144 in the rear.

    Blue F - $79
    HT-10 F - $99
    1144 R - $89

    James,
    Funny that you should reply. I was just looking at you website. I'm thinking about purchasing the brake duct kit and plates too.

    You also get good advice from us. Like - don't buy the cooling plates with the HT-10 pads, make sure you have AP 600 fluid to take the temps and let them get hot.

    i took james' advice. ran ht-10's end of last season and liked them. if he had told me about the mintex for the rear at the time i probably would have got those too! however, i have been running porterfield r4 on the rear and they work well. probably try the mintex next.

    i don't have cooling ducts and use ate blue fluid.

    mintex 1166 fronts, 1155 rears for cars without a bias valve, 1166 all round for cars with a bias valve. i suspect james has all.

    Bias valve? I cooled my heels on the outside of T1 at the last World Challenge race at VIR - bias valve stuck and made the front brakes lock. I will never have one in the car again! Bias with the pads - one less thing to screw up in the system.

    Bias valve!! I'm in agreement with James. Correct me if I'm wrong, but bias valves can only REDUCE the brake effort in the rear. So you would have to have too much rear brake so that you can reduce it and balance it out. How many legal rear wheel drive IT cars have too much rear brake? Especially if you run a locked differential.

    With Porterfield pads front and rear, I have way too much rear brake without a bias valve. With porterfield front and a high performance street pad on the rear I don't need the bias valve.

    ok, guys, and i will continue to use the adjustability the bias valve offers to fine tune the brakes to different tracks..good racing

    I took James' advice and installed the Bimmerworld brake duct kit, Hawk HT-10s, and Mintex pads in my E30. Before this I was burning up pads in 1 weekend at a drivers school. After the mods I got easily 3 times that amount of life from the pads. Thanks James
