Default Early clutch/flywheel late pressure plate?

On a first gen, can I mix and match an early clutch and flywheel witha larger pressure plate?

The only reason I ask is I have the parts laying around.

    thanks!

    Marcus,
FWIW...They switched in '83 to the larger stuff. Old was 215mm, newer is 225mm I believe. May run into flywheel/press plate clearance problems. No experience. Lot of work to experiment. Rules nerds may also have issues.

New clutch kits make life nice.

I know, I figured the rules nerds would get me....

Jsut trying to save the $100 a new presure plate will cost me.
I've got a sprung hub 4 puck and med/ heavy duty pressure plate in the larger size and a non sprung hub 4 puck & stock pressure plate in the earlier size. The pedal effort is non existant, and I am getting some slipping when I shift. I wanted to try the heaver presure plate first to try and resolve it...

Marcus, do you have the early or the late pressure plate? If you want (and we have the opposite) I'd trade you a "good looking" for a "good looking". I believe most of my collection is late, but I know I've got a few early.

    Hey Chris,

    I've actually got enough parts.
    I've got:
    1 early stock pressure plate
1 early 4 puck non sprung clutch
    1 late stock pressure plate
    1 late HD pressure plate
1 late 4 puck spring hub clutch
    and flywheels in both sizes.
The issue is that I really like my lighterweight flywheel, but there is not clutch feel with the 4 puck andstock pressure plate. The clutch also releases *very* high. Much higher then the previous setup (Late model HD prressure plate, spring hub clutch)
I'd like the clutch feel of the old setup, and am pointing att he presure plate right now.
