    Default Miata Diff

Since the SCCA is going down the path to screwing SM, I'm looking at doing ITA with my miata.

I have a problem though. The stock 1.6 R&P seems to die on me about every 10 to 15 hours. I would imagine that a .40 over header equipped miata would make more power than even a cheated up sunbelt SM, so the problem would be worse.

Any of you guys runing ITA with your miatas have any insite? My diff was built by Miata Pro's both times, so I have to assume they know what they are doing,.

What exactly is breaking? Can you upgrade to the 1.8 rear?

Nope. The 1.8's are a larger pumpkin, and they are a different spec line.

    What is breaking?

I have run both the stock 4.30 and the MazdaComp 4.875 gear for hundreds of hours with no problems.

If it is the R&P breaking, get it cryo treated. If it is the differential breaking, come on to ITA where you don't have to use the MazdaComp LSD and give the OPM diff a try.

That's what I would recommend (and hopefully actually do in the near future) also.

The bolts seem to back out of the ring gears.

I'm told that can happen from hitting curbs or excessive tire spin.

    I just don't buy it.
