    Default FD rx7 suspension questions

    i hate to be the newbie posting "whats best" questions, but this is the best place i found to hopefully answer these questions.
    im helping a friend set up an fd rx7 for a sprint race over seas. since im a honda guy, im not sure what spring rates, swaybar settings or shocks work best on the rx7. im not looking for the perfect set-up. that will take some testing and adjustments. but i am looking for a good basic set up.
    specs-
    93 rx7
    stock brakes with carbotech 1109 or cobalt friction spec-vr
    stock wheels w/ hoosier r3so3 (not sure what size yet)
    stock turbo with boost level raised and tuned with power-fc
    currantly on tokico 5way shocks and some eibach spring.
    stock swaybars

    Kind of tough not knowing what the class is and what is allowed modification-wise, but I've owned a 3rd gen for years (sold it just recently) and did a lot of track days. The stock radiator and intercooler are not up to task especially if you are upping the boost. For example the stock intercooler has plastic end caps that often separate from the rest of the intercooler. The stock intercooler piping is very weak with any age.

    The front sway bar mounts fail from high speed cornering with catastrophic results and the rear end with stock bushings toes out severely under acceleration causing an instantaneous overstear situation. Solid toe links and toe-in in the rear on the alignment machine.

    Also if you are using stock wheels make sure they are not the early 93 type (they all look the same from the outboard side). I guarantee the early ones will again catastophically fail between the hub and the rim (the spokes actually break under cornering) sending your tire down track! The early ones have 5 square casting impressions on the hub between the 5 lug holes whereas the OK ones have liberty bell shaped casting impressions.

    thanks for the replies everyone. unfortunately, i dont realy know what the class regulations are since its some overseas santioning body. im just trying to get the suspension sorted out.

    Lo-Buck, I understand what your saying about your trying to get the suspension sorted out. Some classes have rules about suspension parts by manufacture & part numbers. Start from point one (rules) so that zero $$$ is wasted.

    that is a good point that i didnt even think about. ill try to get a copy of some rules and make sure what i have planned are legal. i was realy focused on spring rates and suitable shocks and swaybars. so i figured i'd be within the rules of most classes (accept showroom stock) in most sancioning bodies.
