I was taking them out because the motor don't work anymore and I don't use headlights. No problem. Getting them out is a real b*tch anyway.

Join the crowd...but it is a popular place for the "industrious" racer to go to save weight. And it's arm moment makes it a double point score. But tech inspectors are hip to such moves, and I have seen impounds where all hidden headlight cars are required to "Pop" to show full legality.

The motor doesn't have to work for this, but it has to be there, and the hand crank function must work. So leave 'em alone, but tape them up just for giggles.

Remember the little crank handle thing that came with the stock tire jack? OK, get that, now look under the front bumper, way up in there, kinda like an old model T...


just kidding! It's a little knob right on top of the motor....IIRC.

I'll see if I can snap a digital of it and post it on the guy who offered to host pictures' site when I get the car out of the trailer later today.

Thanks Jake. I think I know what you're describing. If my memory serves me today, I recall what looks like a regulator knob on the headlight motor. I'll take a look and try it out. I had no idea that was a manual overide. I've got to replace a headlight bulb that broke and I can check this out.

Also realize that after fifteen billion revolutions of said knob, the headlight door may move an inch. Just keep twisting.

A 12pt socket hooked to a drill works great!!!

When I first got my car, the previous owner had removed all of the headlight related equipment and taped the sheetmetal down since there was nothing left to keep the headlight doors from bouncing around

Actually, there ARE those rare circumstances when they actually help. The Summit Pt. 12-hour (ends at midnight) and the VIR 13-hour Enduro in October, for example. But mostly, they just help keep the front end down in the turns!

And the heater hoses help defrost the widsheild so I can see where I am going and I don't 'mush' anything.....

Make sure you keep those horn hoses...

put those wiper motors to work, hook your sway bar control up to one. washer bottle will hold a quart of nitrous, the heater hoses will hide the nitrous lines
