    Default Clutches

Since my tranny blew ('83 Spec RX-7), good time to replace clutch disc and possibly pressure plate too. Any suggestions? I don't slip the clutch too much, but don't like the idea of wearing out pressure plates and flywheels before the clutch disc which the puck type units seem likely to do from my brief research. I have no idea what's in it now.

I was thinking something along the lines of a centerforce 2. The puck types just seem a little rough, I actually drive the car to the track sometimes depending on event.

    Thanks in advance

I recommend the 4-puck with a sprung hub and matching pressure plate.
I purchased mine from ISC Racing off Mike's trailer back in 2000 when my Centerforce failed on it's second race.(disc lining came apart) Since then, that same clutch has seen two motors, a dozen transmissions, and three seasons of endurance and regional racing.
I purchased a replacement from ISC, thinking the off season would be a good time to replace it. I pulled out the old clutch in December and it still looks like new!
I does engage like a light switch, however. It's either 'on' or 'off'.
There is about a 1/8 inch of pedal travel from the time it starts to engage to full engagement.

Were dealing with a motor that really dosnt need a lot of slipping anyway, I use the 4 puck as well and I inspected it after 8 races and it was still new.

I use the solid 4 puck, no springs, with a stock pressure plate(makes it act more like a street clutch). It has 4 12 hour races, 5 regionals and many test days....still looks new!
