    Default Tires: Kumho vs. Toyo

Anybody using either the new (Ecsta) or old (Victo) Kumho with any success ? I switched to Toyo's last year- OK, but being a directional tire flipping them on the rims is starting to cost a fortune.

I'm sure Hoosier's are still the best, but the cost is a problem for me.

    Thks for any feedback-

As for the Toyo RA-1's, if the tire is shaved, then throw the direction out the window. The direction for this tire is for the rain. This is the experience I had last year with the RA-1's. I ran them either direction, and never had a problem.

Only experience with both tires (V700 and RA1) is on my 99 Trans Am.. I'm running RA1s on the RX-7 (spec tire). I felt that the V700s were grippier, but would get greasy when really pushed.. The Toyos definitely didn't have as much grip in the normal race range, but IMHO, held up better when I really went at it. Longetivity wise, the Toyo wins hands down.
