    Default dash removal - 2nd gen

    how do i get the dash out of my '90 rx-7? i want to finish cleaning everything before i put the rollcage in.

    hmmm, let's see.

    2 bolts on each extreme side of the dash

    remove the defroster vent covers, one screw there, then remove the pop clip'd piece that runs along the extreme front of the dash, you'll need a shorty phillips (if your windshield is still in), it covers 3 screws

    4 bolts (2 per side) down low by the radio, both covered by plastic panels down there.

    Remove the instrument cluster, remove the logicon (heater controls).

    Last but not least (since these are the hardest to find reading the manual), two bolts holding the steering column to the bottom of the dash.

    Then slowly pull it back, and look for all the cables you need to disconnect.

    It's FUN!

    Cheap insurance is to remove the windshield like Paul suggests. Makes it easier to paint the inside after roll cage installation, and reinstall that dash. Besides, if it is the original windshield, new glass is easier to see out of.
