Just looked up at my movie poster of Steve McQueen-LeMans. Your sketch caught my eye and reminds me very much of the Gulf Porsche. It is a striking car and your version should be really awesome.

There were a couple different stripe schemes used, so check the various incarnations by searching "Gulf gt40" or "gulf porsche". I personally like the gt40 scheme where the stripe pans out at the front and goes just under the headlights.
