    Default head swap

hey guys...im not building a race car, ive built american v-8's, but never one of these, and most of the people on the ricer forums are idiots...all they can do is spit back out what they read in magazines...but a freiend of mine has an integra with a b18b, and wants to put a b18c1 head on it, ive done a lot of reading, and i know what all has to be done, but ide like some professional view points...the oil passages dont line up, so u have to run an external oil line...thoughts on this?...and would you reccomend a b18c1 oil pump with this swap?...any other thoughts??...thanks,
    Will

    check out this link

    http://www.diyracing.com/ls_vtechowto.html

also, read the forums at this site

    http://honda.hybrids.jp

what you're wanting to do is refered to as LS/VTEC and it's quite common

You probably won't be able to join hybrids.jp as a member for the forums right now as it's very tight (to keep the idiot ricers out) but reading the forums will offer a wealth of information. Search the archives and the FAQs. This is your source for legitimate answers.

For the 01 Integra motor (OBD2), you will need an ECU from from an OBD2 Honda/Integra. If you are going to use the GSR head, try and find a 96-01 GSR ECU. You can convert to OBD1 (92-95 motors), but this will require an OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness. If you did this, you could use the p28 ecu off of the 92-95 civic. This is a popular ECU choice for people with OBD1 setups. There are a variety of chip programs that work well with LS/VTEC's.

Go over to this forum and do a search. There is some good info on this site for LS/VTEC's.

There is nothing OBD specific about the heads. You can use any head from any year you want they are all interchangable (to a point) and do not require any matching ecu. What yoy need to be concerned about in this regard is matching the harness plugs on the distributor and injectors...eveything else is the same from obd-1 to 2. Since you never said what gen the chassis was that you were putting the motor into, I can't say what ecu to use...this is what you want to match for greatest ease of install.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to close this thread, as it has nothing to do with IT and as all the posts point out, there are better forums out there to get this info.

    good luck w/ your project.
