Default 1.6 liter... Interference or not?

I have heard that the CRX Si 1.6 liter engines are an interference type motor. ie. if the timing belt goes so will the valves and pistons. Is this true?

The reason I ask is because my timing belt broke at high RPM, the motor shut down imediately and I am afraid that it may be more than a $30 belt replacement.

    Thanks

yes it is an interference type motor. But that doesn't mean it is damaged. You may have got lucky...

Trouble is that there may be a slight chance that it didn't smash the valves, but odds are it did. AND if it didn't, usually the guy starts cranking it over to see why it won't start - and THEN you just smashed the valves. You Honda guys, replace that timing belt every season.
