    Default A1 final drive ratio

    How can I find the ratio of a VW final drive. Is there a marking on the housing-or anything else to look for? Is for my '83 ITB GTI car. Thanks, Ned

    Provided that your transaxle hasn't been previously modified, the code is on a flat portion of the trans that's visible from below the car. Code decoding and gear ratios can be found at www.scirocco.org/gears
