Default Can you identify these VW wheels?

I currently have 5 of these 6" x 13" BBS wheels and have been told they come from a VW. I'm not sure if they were standard or an option. In the future I'd like to pick up some more of these (3 or 4). Here is what is on them:

    BBS
    6Jx13H2
    191ET 33
    KBA40599

Any ideas? The wheels are not a 4 or 5 spoke. They have a somewhat mesh design. If a picture would help to more easily identify them, I'll try to post one.

    Thanks!!

    Dave
Can you please post a picture of the wheels?
If you have a VW part number on them that would be helpful also in identifying them.

The picture would be the best though.

    Dave,

I have some very similar wheels, except they're KBA 40588. Other than that, they have the same markings. Two are all silver, and two have a gold center w/ a silver lip. I don't believe they're OEM VW, becaue they would have some kind of VW logo on them if they were.

I don't think they were OEM on any particular car, but probably offered as aftermarket wheels for FWD cars, back in the day.

I have similar wheels, but they're ET13, and was told they were for a BMW fitment. I believe from the early 320i's.

I tried to post a picture but couldn't figure it out. I added a pic to my car domain site but it does not allow me to obtain the address that it is stored. Or at least I do not know how to obtain it.

    Thanks for the help guys.

    Dave,

Are they like the gold wheels on the Krispy Kreme Scirocco that's on the directory page of the discussion area?

I have 8 of them, they're pretty popular ITC and HP wheels for VWs. I got a set off of ebay, they do come up every now and then. I think that someone said that they were used on Scirocco/Rabbit Cup cars.

Joe, actually the Ronal 20 something spoke wheel was the spec wheel for the Rabbit cup. I have had 2 sets of these from an actual competitor. I still have 1 set. They are only 13x5.5 though

I think I had all-silver versions of those on my 1981 Audi 5+5, and I THINK that they were OE on that car. Mine were 13's and someone gave me a fifth that turned out to be a 14.

    Dave,

Those are the wheels I have. As I said, I don't know if they were OEM for anything, but they've been around for a while. As I said, I've got a set of them in ET13, but I can't run them on the Prod car, as they make the track too wide. I'd be willing to trade them for a set of the ET33 wheels if you're interested.

I think those are aftermarket. I have a set of 14's that look identical that have been passed down from a friend. His were orig. bought in the late '80's from Tire Rack as I recall for for a 'rocco street car.

I have 3 of these BBS wheels with the 33mm offset, only problem is I have these and some MSW 13x6 too, if I could get some more MSWs I would trade so I would have all the same, I would love to have all the BBS, but I only have 3 BBS and 5 MSW. If any one has some to trade let me know. Dave, if someone has some of the MSWs I will be more than happy to sell you my BBS.

Do you know what the ET13 or ET33 stands for?

My goal will be to get 8 of these in total (have 5) so I can properly heat cycle my tires. It will be tough with one set and limited track time.

The wheel's backset from the center, in millimeters. It's an abbreviation of the German word 'Einpresstiefe' which literally translates as 'insertion depth'.

The smaller the ET number, the wider the track of the car. Most V-dubs came with ET33, 35 or something very close.

I have 3 13X6 MSW wheels for my Rabbit. What are you looking to do? Trade the BBS for the MSW to make 8 MSW or some combination.

I have a set of the BBS wheels if you are interested. I will have to look but I think they are 14X6 and are Gold centers.

    Tony,

That is exactly what I am trying to do, what color are your 13in MSWs? Would you be willing to trade, or should I say what would you take to be willing to part with them?

    Les,

I appreciate it, I think we are trying to move to 13in, but I might interested in those 14s if we stay with that size. I appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Derek,

I'm not trying to cut Tony out of a deal, but I may be getting a set of 4 of those 13x6 ET33 MSW wheels. The BBS copies w/ the gold centers and silver lips. I'd like to go w/ all BBS wheels, and would be interested in some type of trade, if you don't trade w/ Tony.

    Derek,

Let me solidify the deal on the MSW's and we'll take it from there.

They are Silver Basket Weave. I believe they are Type 23.I will trade them as my full set are Borbet and I use the MSW for spares.
