Rabbit Motor question
I am looking at buying a 75 ITC Rabbit with a 1.6l motor. I was curious if it would be legal to run the car in ITB or ITA if I swapped in a larger 8v or 16v? Or would I be stuck always running in ITC? I am very interested in the car but don't want to be stuck in a small class if I decide to move up in a couple years. Thanks for the help guys.

Jared,
The VIN# has to match the car, as classified. 'Creating a model' is not allowed. The A1 Rabbit chassis never came w/ a 16v motor, so that wouldn't be legal, and there were no 1.6 motors in '83 or '84 (and there's a digit in the GTI VIN# that indicates that it has a 1.8), so the 8v swap isn't legal either.

1.6 runs in GT4 (now GT Lite). 1.8 8v runs in GT3 You can run a 1.8 16v in a Golf, Scirocco (Mk II), or a Corrado body, but not a Rabbit. Not to mention that you'd have to spend more money than you can imagine to make the car as competitive as it is in IT.

Marzracing, you could put in a 1.8 and run it Limited Prep G Production. Or you could fully prep the 1.6 and run it also in G Prod, or run it in Limited Prep H Production with the 1.6
