    OEM bushings or race bushings?

    A1 or A2 chassis?

If it is on your 87 Golf then remove the rear beam and press out the bushings, get BSI rear bushing kits, install them and forget about them. I run Stu's complete bushing kit (F&R) on my 89 16V and I haven't had any problems in 5 seasons with them. You can remove the mounts from the body brackets, burn the rubber out, CAREFULLY cut the remaing sleve out and remove the sleve from the rear beam and then install the BSI ones, but I will not be responable for giving you the information to burn your car to the ground along with your house or cutting into the rear beam. Be carefull, removing the rear beam and taking it to a machine shop to have the bushings pressed out is the best (safest) way to do it.
