    Default Ox Sensor

I have an 87 Golf GTI with CIS-E. It has a three wire sensor. After looking at the wiring diagram Im wondering if I can get away with a one wire sensor. Isn't the green wire that it plugs into the wire that works it?

Why would you want to do that? The other two wires are for the O2 sensor heater circut to get the O2 sensor up to opperating temp sooner and keep it there. The O2 sensor needs to be with in a opperating tempature to work correctly (one reason the heater is there) and the faster it gets there and stays with in the temp range, the better the system performs. I see no reason to rid the car of a good thing???

Yes your right . I just didn't understand how it worked. After more looking into it I know how it works now. Thanks for your help.
