    Default Jetta classes and weights...

What year/make/model is allowed in which IT classes and what are they allowed to weigh?

    1991 GLI 16v - ITS - 2530
    '94-96 VR6 - ITS - 2980 (oink)
    1993 2.0 - ITA - 2480 (case could be made for moving it to B w/the GTI)
    '82-84 1.7 - ITB - 2080
    '85-91 GL/GLI 1.8 - ITB - 2280 (same as a Golf)

    Have fun!

    Thanks!

What is the difference is speed between ITA and ITB cars. I'm having an issue in my region. ALL Jettas in our rules must run 2250#. 1.8 8V, 2.0 8V and 2.0 16V... I'm trying to get a concession for 8V cars in my series. Although they have the 85-91 Golfs running 150lb lighter than my Jetta is. I run against a number of 16V 2.0 VWs with a '86 (ABA 8V) but I'm still significantly at a power disadvantage. I'm trying to at least get a 100lb off for any 8V.

Each sanctioning body has the option of writing its rules to suit its membership and priorities. If the IT rules support your claim, go ahead and use them as evidence for your claim but I'd caution you that there is NO rhyme or reason to how the weights have been set for the IT classes. Each decision has been made from a micro-view perspective rather than relative to the weights of the entire body of classified cars.

Thanks for your candid answers. Sounds like some of you guys aren't happy about the weights of the cars in IT in the SCCA either
