    Default corrado weight

Hey anyone, is the corrado weight of 2680 lb listed in the 2003 ITCS correct or was that changed in a Fastrack somewhere? Thanks!

Yep, it was dropped from 2850# last year. But, that wasn't a comp. adjustment

How far along is your SLC project?
I think you'll be SLC #3 in the nation.
Gary in CA and our car are the other 2.

Ours should be out this year. Having trouble finding an event where we don't need to run the Golf though. So it looks like October before we'll be on track.

What tracks will you be running?

Brian Blizzard runs an ITS Corrado VR6 up here in New England. It looks super and sounds GREAT!

Hey Bill of Bildon, we haven't even decided to do the Corrado, we are trying to figure out the future direction our team was going to go and since one of us has a Corrado we were going to look into the possibility of building the ITS car. I was planning to talk to you about it if we get a little more serious, but we are waiting in part to see what happens with competition adjustments and the general direction of IT (espcially ITS). Do you think the Corrado can beat the E36s? It's getting pretty scary, Ed York is now down into the 1:24s at Summit Point in his BMW...

    Just an FYI:

I know parts for the corrado are very pricy and hard to find... Our sponsor Force 5 Automotive in Concord NH has two cars in great condition that he is going to part out cause they are more valuable in pieces... You might however be able to get some good deals if you give him a call. One of the cars has been their for a long time.

I don't think that the cars are listed on his website (www.force5auto.com) but it would be worth giving him a call... Chris Simple at 223-6700. Be sure to tell him we sent you!!!

I have told the Brian Blizzard about the cars before but they havn't called... so now the cars are anyones game!!!

Raymond's right, parts are some what rare, and are certainly not cheap. They're great cars, and should be better w/ the weight break. They're still nose heavy though, and I doubt that you can get the kind of HP out of one that you can get out of an E36 (nope, not going to get into that discussion again!).

Hey Bill, what ever happened to the old SSA cars from the mid-late 90's??? I seem to remember seeing one for sale a year or so ago.

    Hmmm,
Isn't a 95-99 Golf III VR6 classed in ITS yet? Parts would be a lot cheaper even though aero might suffer... On the plus side, I think they were a bit lighter than the 92-94 Corrado SLCs.

The GTI VR6 is now classed for ITS,,,,, however the comp board found it necessary to make it weigh a couple hundred pounds more than the Corrado??????? Go figure,, Normal SCCA comp board stuff I guess.....

At 2500 to 2600 lbs I would jump at the chance to convert my SSB VR6 to ITS, At that weight I could go fast enough to actually read the sponsors logos on the E36 Bimmers when they pass me!

    >>Brian Blizzard runs an ITS

Yah, I garaged with him at WGI last month. Can't believe I forget him.

    >> Do you think the Corrado can beat the E36s?

Nope. unless the E36 is not prepared or driven well. The VR6 is a nose heavy pig with a good P/W ratio. The E36 is a world class chassis (M3) with great balance and good HP in IT prep.

    >> I know parts for the corrado are very pricy and hard to find...

Compared to a Golf yes. But compared to other ITS cars they are less expensive and G60s make great parts cars. VR6 engines are in many Passat/Jettas...I haven't found parts to be a real problem. EBAy is your friend.

Hi Bill, is your Corrado done? My car is out of action for the rest of the year. Typical shock trouble. I ordered 2816-2817 series KONI shocks for the Corrado ideally this should take care of my shock troubles.

    Good luck
    Gary

    >> is your Corrado done?

    Hey Gary,
    Short answer: yes.
But it a race car ever done?
It's ready to run, but far from developed properly. I hope to get it out again later this month.

Were you running Bilsteins before? I find
them bullet proof. Mine are revalved to Beetle Cup specs. We'll see how they work.

Going to PRI again this year?
I'm hitting Essen the week before too.

    >>PRI

Bill, Yes I will be at the PRI show,I would like to hook up and have dinner one night if possible.

On the Corrado I was using Ground control shocks, Tony at GC is a lot of help, but I want to try some other type of shocks at this time. I plan on testing late November will give you all the info on what works best.
