    Default A1/MK1Bunnys

Is there a difference between the heads on a late 70's A1 1.6 head and an 82 MK1? Question pertains to a header swap. Thanks for your wisdom.

One other question. Have any of you any experience with a KMM or KKM wheel flange? Is it OE spec?

An A1 header will fit a 1.6, 1.7, and a 1.8. The head is the same on the 1.6 and 1.7. The A2 header is a different angle than an A1, so to answer your question, yes it will fit.

Case in point, the header that I'm running on my GP Wabbit with a 1.8 is the same header that came with my A1 Scirocco race car that I bought in 1992.

Hmmm, good info, I should probably purchase a header.

I've running the early rabbit manifold with dual downpipes and the motor seems strong regardless. With such a short time frame before next event (not to mention a thin wallet) I elected to port and polish the stock manifold which is now installed on my car.

Given the $300 or so cost of a header, is it worth much power over the early rabbit cast manifold.

I would guess that it's worth a couple of HP over the stock manifold and downpipe. It's also lighter than the stock units.

Joe, do you want me to bring the "ballast" bricks with me this weekend?

Tim ,great idea. I'll go to tech to get the car weighed. If the motor and suspension work well, I might be a front runner :-) LOL. I sure would hate to get DQed for being underweight.

Given my last 3 performances, I should be ecstatic if I even make it to the race.

I'll bring a drill, some bolts and my "new" tool to loan you.

Once I bought a pace setter header for the 1.6 Scirocco. Advertised as equal length (NOT!!!) 1 3/8 primarys. Worked OK, probably better than a stock manifold, but not as good as my 1 5/8 true equall length header. But it was only $125 from J.C. Whitney.
But that engine ran great up to 8,000 rpm's.

    Thanks for the tip Mark!

Here is a link to the JC Whitney header for the A1 Wabbit.
