    Default 1.8 block 2.0 head?

OK, so we have a new valve job (see thread below) during the job my engine guy said; "do you know you have 2.0l head on a 1.8 body?" Dah no. The question is why would someone do this? Wouldn't that create more top end less bottom?
    Thanks.

Joe, w/ the exception of the 16v motors, the only 2.0 liter VW's came w/ X-flow heads. And, I'm not a 16v guys so I can't say for sure, but I didn't think there was a difference between the 1.8 and 2.0 16v heads. Are you sure he didn't mean a 1.8 head on a 1.6 bottom end? That's a well known, old school trick for getting big valves on the 'small blocks'. Requires welding and redrilling of the oil passages in the head, but it works well.

Hey Joe, Bill is right the 1.8L 16V head is different then the 2L 16V. I know thats not you rcomment, but it may help clarify things. Thats a very strange setup. A few of my friends are doing the 2L ABA crossflow bottom end with a 1.8L head. This works well!!!!

He definitely said 2.0l on 1.8 block. But I will reconfirm and relay the message you guys said. I will post his response.
    Thanks for the input!
