    Default A2 A/C REMOVAL

When removing the A/C from an A2 Golf, is it neccessary to buy a non-AC alternator? Or, is it possible to change just the bracket or shim the pulley to bring the alternator in line with the main belt? Man I wish I would have started with a non-AC, non power steering, non-sunroof car!!! Oh well, I guess you live and you learn!!!

I don't have any experience w/ A2's, but I know you can do it on an A1 w/ different brackets and pulleys. There's not really any difference in the motors w.r.t. that stuff, so you should have no problem (other than finding the brackets and pulleys). The only thing that may be an issue is if you have a long shaft vs. short shaft alt. I know that w/ the short shaft ones, there are several different pulley 'offsets'. I'm not sure about the long shaft ones.
