2.0 16V GTI vs 8V Jetta GLI

Being new to IT racing. I have a 2.016V GTI and a 85 GLI Jetta. Just wondering which would be more competitive in its class.

The Jetta, probably, since the 2.0 16v is classified in ITS against the BMW e36 325is and some other hot rides. This would not, however, stop me from building the GTI, but I have some weird ideas. If you haven't already done so, take a look at...

I also might be in the market for one of those GTIs next summer, if you decide to do the Jetta - which, for its part, is classified against the Golfs, only 50# heavier.

Thanks for the info. I thought about the GTI but it is so rare. The Jetta on the other hand... Is the Jetta really competitive against the Golf's in ITB. I'll check out the site.

I haven't seen a Jetta that is really competitive but to be fair, anyone who has wanted to build a car to the letter of the rule has started with a Golf. Prepared equally? The 50 pounds would be made up for by only a little driver talent. I wonder about aerodynamics, too. Could the Jetta be slicker? Dunno.
