Seat mounting in a Scirocco

I got a second hand Cobra Imola2 seat and am going to mount it in a MK1 Scirocco...my question is: Did you guys have to cut out the formed chanel where the old stock seat adjuster was? This is where I need to mount my seat and I just don't see any other way around it. Is this just what I have to do? I just want to be smart about this ya know measure twice and again and then look at it once more and then cut.

some more info:

Seat not be mounted on a slider.

Part that needs clearancing is the formed piece that goes from the drivers side to the passengers side ya know that bump in the floor.
