Default Thinking of building an 86 GTI IT Racer.

This is a 86 GTI gutted shell imbuying, it has a 8v engine, not sure which it would be(i'm a MK3 guy), I have a line on a 2.0l 16v engine. What IT class should I run, what engine should I get/use, what mods am i able to do (cage, suspension, stripping interior, engine mods, ect.). Any help is useful.

Thats an ITB car waiting to happen.
I will give you the same advise i've seen givin out many times in the past: call the SCCA or go to the website SCCA.ORG and get a rule book, then consider a used, already built racecar. either way, take your time and do it properly - good luck

My advice would be to... Oh, crap--never mind.

I am going to the 'Vortex and hang with the 19-year-olds in the "street racing" forum, where I am really appreciated.

Yes, ITB is your best bet for your car. I have a parts car available and I also know where you can get a bolt-in cage for VERY CHEAP! give me a buzz
