Replace your "Hoosier Dirt Stocker" with my "IT RX7 For Rent" and you've got the same email word for word that I recieved about 2 months ago.

This is a scam, although not quite as popular as the Nigerian Royalty scam

Yes,that is a scam [419] that is what it is called in Nigerian.
One guy send me cheque for $3900. to buy a used part for $250.I was to cash the cheque at a cash checking store and send him $3600.
I knew this was a joke,so i keep the cheque and the part and told him to stop emailing me.
The last email i got,he told me his wife was sick and he need the money to pay a doctor in England.I email him and,say iam sorry,to hear and good luck.

Funny thing about "Barry White" I got the same e-mail regarding my VW Shell that I have listed in the classified section, and we did have an e-mail discussion regarding this. He's in the UK, and couldn't really understand that I was GIVING away this shell. He kept on asking me what was the "asking price"

So you know its a scam, tell him to send the check, when it clears you'll ship the parts. Have the bank give you cash, don't go to a bank you do business with.

Its hard for someone to scam those pictures of Ben Franklin. (or Grant or Jackson)

    Ha Dave,

Reminds me of this year when our town actually had a 50 year old, 125 foot, 2-lane steel bridge forsale. They unbolted it from its foundations and used 1 large crane on one end to pick it up and 2 quarry dump trucks to tow it from the river span and park it on the road. It sat there for 2 months with a forsale sign on it until they eventually cut the thing up for scrap.

So, yes sometimes bridges are forsale, ha!

I got the same messages when I was selling my Miata. I just disregarded them and never thought about just taking the money.

Hell, if they are trying to scam us, shouldn't we be able to scam them?

Another way these scams can work is like the one my brother got on a Honda Odyssey four-wheeler a month or six weeks ago. The guy wanted to send a check for several thousand more than the asking price and have my brother wire the surplus back to him. Yeah. Right. You send me a check and I'm supposed to send you a wire? How stupid does my email address look?

Just to be clear, what can happen is that the "buyer" sends some kind of certified check that you deposit and wait until it clears. The when you see the money in your account, you're happy to return a surplus or send the item.

Well, since it's an international account that it's drawn from, the check can actually clear into your account and then a couple of days later the money will magically disappear when everything actually goes through.
