    Default IT Number Plates

Who here would be interested in getting IT number plates made like the Super Touring and World Challenge guys have?

We already have a number of them made up but are considering a bulk production run to lower costs. We're trying to guage the interest out there.

Please post your interest here or email the Webmaster.

    Bill,

Count me in. Not too humongous though.

No, these will be the same size as what is used in most series.

Here's what we have come up with:

    Bill,

Are you talking magnetic, or vinyl? Either way, I'm interested in a set. Any idea on price yet?

Count me in. I would prefer the vinyl as opposed to the magnetic.

My only concern is the "Club Racing" portion. Why not make it identical to the required decal so that we wouldn't have to run the official decal. I seem to remember a race a couple of years ago where someone showed up with a newly vinyled car and all of the vinyl was the same color. The car was attractive, but I don't think that "the powers" were pleased that the "Club Racing", "E" and "OFF" were the same color as the numbers and sponsor vinyl.

    Pat,
There are a couple different ways we can do it. Check here. IT Number Plates

Eric at SCCA Pro was kind enough to provide us with demensions and artwork for the printers. We just need to decide on a format. 14.5" x 18.5"

    Bill,

I would love to be able to use the one on the bottom, but I know it doesn't conform to Denver's sticker placement, so it's kind of pointless. That being said, I like the design at the top. Any idea on cost???

For those of you who have inquired about cost. First we need to determine which panels we will want to use. Then we will get quotes on them. We are currently talking with the company who creates the World Challenge number panels and another high volume vinyl graphics shop.

See the latest designs. And give us your feedback!

    Bill,

Are you sure #5 satisfies the SCCA sticker requirements? The GCR shows specific placement of the Club Racing and Class stickers. If you can get approval for the #5 design, I'd take those, but I have a funny feeling that it won't fly.

Where does it say they must be located?
I thought it was simply one each per side for number, class and SCCA Club stickers.

Does it really give specific locations? Aft of fender, forward of rear panel, etc?

I don't have my GCR near me.

In the GCR, it shows a drawing of the side view of the car, w/ the club racing, class, and car # locations pointed out. I don't know if you could use the proposed number plate. Why don't you shoot it by Sven or Aaron in Denver and see what they say. I'd just like clarification as to the legality of it before I buy it.

Bill, those locations in the drawing are not mandated in the text of the GCR. The decals can be almost anywhere. I'll read the exact wording tonight. But since I was given the # plate templates from the SCCA I don't think there will be a problem.

    Bill,

    From the 2000 GCR, GCR-135

"Each automobile competing in an SCCA sanctioned speed event shall display the official SCCA logo, unobstructed and prominently on both sides of the automobile adjacent to the side numbers."

That being said, I don't think #5 would satisfy the logo placement requirements. But it looks like there's no restriction on where the class designation can go. However, it does say that class letters will be at least 4" high w/ a .5" stroke.

So, as long as you can satisfy that w/ the class designation, I like design #6.

    Thanks for your efforts!

Here's what our priliminary estimate on cost will be:

    Plain Numberboards $12
Full boards (including numbers and IT insignia) will be available for about $25/each.

We still need to come to a consensus on the style though.

I vote for #6 do these only come in black and white or can the numbers be made to match the cars paint scheme. Either way I'm still interested.

I'm in for #6, w/ numbers and class designation. Colors may be nice, but will probably be tough to please everybody. I'll take mine in black please.

Would it be helpful to anyone but me to have the front number also included in the package? I'd like to have the same font and brush stroke on the hood (but maybe a different height).

    Bill,

    I prefer #5.

Consensus? Am I on the IT site?
