Even though I raced a Spec Miata (yeah I know) I still had a good time racing in group 5 on Sunday morning. I stay on this board becuse of all the friends I have that race IT. Chris Ludwig's RX-7 suspension came from me and I have spent a lot of time working on IT cars. Bottom line from my deal is that I appreciate everyone's efforts after my son Jared had his incident in the FV. I was standing in tech when they said a car had gone off. When they started calling for extrication equipment I decided I better see where my son was. A broken spindle caused him to go off track. Big let down after winning Saturday. Needless to say, spending Sunday at Indianapolis Methodist was not how we wanted to spend the day but everything worked out OK. Thanks to the corner workers, officials, rescue workers and other racers that voiced their concern. We will be at Gratton on Memorial Day weekend.

Ahhh, gotcha. Yea, we'll have to see what happens with Mid Ohio over the next year or so. It's such a shame that it's one of the greatest tracks in the US but the management......lets just say "leaves something to be desired". I'm just kind of upset that I never got the chance to run a Runoffs there while it was right in my back yard.

I'm glad to hear that your son is ok. My brother and sister-in-law were watching from the fence looking back from turn 12. They said they figured that something had to of broken the way he went off track. It's good to hear that a cause was found and that he's ok.

Win, good to hear Jarod is doing well. My friend Don (racer that is selling the blue Prod Fiat that was parked next to tech) was working T9 and was the first one on the scene. He said it was an ugly straight in hit, obviously caused by the left front failure. Jarod was yelling pretty good when Don got to him, so they were quick to make the call for the medical team. We may have gripes about a lot of things at IRP, but med services is not one of them. I guess Jarod can brag now that he has had some sheet time at one of the most famous "race hospitals" in the world

Speaking on Management. I can't say much for IRP's Management from where I stand. They announce at the last minute they are running open wheel (non-pro or race event for that matter) "simulated race experience". Then for the track to even get some attention SCCA has to belly up to the bar and "negotiate" for track repairs.

I got the feeling (of course me being a rookie and not knowing much) that IRP could care less about the road course and us Road Racers. I must say I appreciate everyone on the Indy Region's SCCA that put on the event. I could care less about the delays that were caused with lack of help, but when they delayed us for the circle track, that was just BS.

Just my opinion, I usually run my mouth w/o knowing all the facts.

Replacing rockers and shims, buttoning it up, crossing my fingers that it runs (which is not unheard of with the SR20 motor - it's a tough little ba$tard)...otherwise I have a bit of a delay till my next event while I swap a motor (and the original one was just getting broken in with only 135k miles on it...)

Hey Monsoon Bob, just where exactly were you when Group 5 was getting ready to race on Saturday afternoon? You know, when the one and only storm cloud in the entire state of Indiana decended upon the track (it didn't even rain at my house which is only 10 miles northeast of the track)

That couldn't be more correct. It's no secret that IRP is owned by the NHRA. So obviously no, they don't care a whole lot about the road course and us road course racers. Last year the track got all tore up during the National event and needed the repairs (that were done over the winter). The Indy Region asked for the repairs from the track and they just said no and were quite content with just letting the road course die. It was the Indy Region themselves who ended up paying for all of those repairs we saw on the racetrack - pretty much wiping them out. Steve - please correct me if any of that isn't accurate. It's just how it was relayed to me.

So with that being said:

Kevin, yes, you are basically correct. Indy Region had to fund the repair costs upfront, but we are having some event fee's waived so that we will be able to recoup some of the inital outlay. We saw it as an investment in the race program that would eventually give us a greater return. It's just going to take a couple years. We are fortunate that the current IRP track management believes that the road course can be a source of income for them (that's what it come's down to). NHRA in California does not.

Standing in front of the tower, I think. Terrence had called a quick meeting of the stewards to try to figure out a solution to yet another delay from the guys on the oval and then the rain came...in buckets.

Guys, I don't take credit for the rain...or the snow at Gingerman. I was Chief Steward three years in a row for the August National at Mid Ohio and we had great weather all three years.

There was also something a little embarrising about that. Dont' know if I want to share. Some know of it and some saw it. I decided to leave it on grib because we had to run back to paddock to pick up camp and get the tools covered. Ack! RUST!
