    Default Hallet & Brakes

Anyone know how hard Hallet is on brakes? I'm going down next weekend for the PDE (still can't afford a dedicated track car...), and my KFP Golds are at maybe 1/4 left. Should I be looking at new pads this week???

Why Jennifer . . . I thought you ALWAYS agreed with me.

BTW - and sorry for the OT - what happened to you after the meatball last weekend? I saw they had the rear axles all out.

Pish-tosh. I disagree. I don't have any facts, I'm just in a disagreeable mood today.

    Norm,

Are you confusing Jennifer with Shiela again? That was Shiela (Steve's wife) that got the meatball. They couldn't get a bearing, so she didn't race Sunday. That left just me to represent IT7.

That bites... Had I been at the track last weekend, we could have got her going. Last time I checked my spares package, I had both the large and smaller axle bearings.

Hey Scott... Will you ever race again?

By god I hope so! Working on staffing and training the Pit crew right now

Back on topic...New pads are a must have, especially if your looking at 1/4 pad currently on the car.

When you see T3, you'll know why you'll need extra pads

(T2 is the crest of the hill right?)

Not THAT'S the kind of info I need! Guess I'm trying to get set of pads by Friday!

Nadeem: Sure wish I could have made it to STL. I think I'm good enough now to stay in front of you long enough to keep you from lapping me.

Scott: It was great to meet you in Hallett. Look forward to seeing you again.

Kevin: I think the next HST event at Hallett is 5/28 but if you are attending one this weekend then this post is moot as you will be introduced to "The Bitch" tomorrow or Sunday. Hallett turns are numbered based on counter-clockwise (normal) direction. In this direction turn 2 is "The Bitch", and the main reason you need long pads if you plan to drive hard. There are no other hard braking areas when running this direction. If running clockwise, turn 6 is a hard braking turn and then turn 3 (which is actually part of the turn 2/3 "Bitch" but not as tough as if you were going the other direction because you wont have as much speed going in). Hallett is a superbly fun track and I hope you enjoy it! Check out Freddy's Steak House in Mannford, next door to the Lake Shore Motel. You probably already know this but you can download lap videos from their web site, http://www.hallettracing.net/

    Enjoy!

5/21-22 there is a PDE as a part of the Driver's School & Regional Race weekend. I'm also needing to make hotel reservations - any to avoid, or any that you recommend? Thanks for the tip about the steak house - living with a vegetarian, I look for a good slab of meat when I go out of town.

And thanks for the reminder about the lap vids.

We stay at the Lakeshore in Mannford only because it's an easy walk to the bar, I mean Freddy's Steakhouse. The motel's not any better or worse than anything you'll find near Hallett. I see you are attending an SCCA track day. You might want to consider going to Hallett sometime when they are having their HST (High Speed Touring) events. These are the same thing as SCCA but less restrictive and you will usually get more track time for less money. There's usually one each month. The schedule is on their web site.

Sorry 'bout that. Kind'a hard to tell in a full face helmet - and I didn't have an entry form with me. I was the pit steward when she was meatballed.

And congrats on your race. I'm just glad you were able to avoid contact, if you know what I mean.

    See you at Hallett?
