    Tom,

Not much detail to it. Just another class authorized. 1st. Gen RX7 (12A), can run in ITA or IT7 using the 2004 ITA rules. It should bring back a lot of RX7 to next years events.

I think it's good news for all us 1st. Gen drivers.

    Scott,

I've also posted the news on the Midiv Forum. We got what we asked for and more. The fact that an RX7 won the Mid-Am was brought up. Good thing I was there to dispell any misconceptions. I think everyone in MiDiv knows that if Tim Finley had been able to race at MMP the results would most likely have been different.

There was no mention of the IT7 class being a provisional class. My understanding was that it was going to be a full and officially recognized class eligible for IT Tour and Mid-Am points. Charlie Clark was very forcefull in his support for this change. Be sure to thank him if you get the chance.

One other note of interest. I'm sure there are more but I was able to attend only the very end of the convention so I was not at all teh discussion. Transponders will be MANDITORY for all cars at MiDiv events in 2004.

Thanks to everyone who sent emails and contacted your RE's. When I gave the presentation to the MIDIV Board I had a fistfull or emails. The RE vote was unanimous. Mark's explanation was very valuable.
Now, the challenge is to get more 1st Gens on the track. Maybe a "How To" for aspiring drivers. Half the cost of a Spec Miata with 100% of the fun.

    Mike,

Thanks again for making the motion. I hope this will bring a lot of RX7's out of "mothballs".

Congratulations on including the class IT7. I am in the Southeast Division and I own and drive in IT7. I am retiring and moving back to Kansas. I have my car for sale so if anyone up there in the midwest is looking for a car I might be able to delivery. Check the classifieds for a 1980 model.. Thanks

Thanks for the offer, I wish I could race up there. The IT7 class is great. The cars are pretty much able to run within a few seconds of each other, but the drivers make all the differents in the world. Selling the car is part of the retirement so I am commented. If you know anyone ready to jump in I have a turn key car. [email protected]
