ITE in sediv

Hi all, I race an '88 Corvette in San Francisco region, SSCCA ITE regional class.
Does ITE exist in FL and is it a good class, the only other place I know this car could fit is SPO but it doesn't have a fuel cell.
What do you think?

Someone else may be more knowledgeable, but I would assume you could run SPO here in SEDIV w/o a fuel cell, since it is a catch-all class. I forget though if safety reg's are to GT specs or to IT specs. ITE isn't run here, it's SPO, SPU, and P2 (for world challenge, grandam, etc)

I think SPO is GT Specs which requires a fuel cell. Only time I think you'll see ITE down here is at the ARRC, and in the past couple of years there were no cars in that class. You can goto sedivracing.org and contact the regions directly for the races you want to run to see if they will allow you to run as ITE. Something else, do the regions in your area use AMB transponders? If not, you'll have to buy one or can rent depending on how many races you'll run.

They say in the link to the rules off the website, SPO is a catch all class that is called ITE in other regions but must meet GCR sec 17 for GT and production cars.
I don't know about production cars but GT is a fuel cell required class and IT isn't.
so at this point I look hosed and will have to drop money into a fuel cell that I don't have or just race in NASA, unless someone says, "ITE will grid w SPO but I can pass tech on ITE rules"

Race it in P1!!!
A fuel cell is not required in P1. I learned of this last year when I asked Pat Hanavan why he raced his E36 in P1 rather than SPO.

I went through the same thing with my grandam cup Miata. For SPO, you either have to meet the minimum production safety rules as written in the GCR, OR meet your series rules which you must provide to the scrutineer. And those series rules need to meet the minimum requirements for a SS cage per the GCR. At least it was that way in Atl three years ago.

P1 is a BMWCCA class who's rules appearently do not require a fuel cell.
If you look at the supplementary regulations of the last race, under car eligibility, it says P1 and P2 are allowed.

I have never heard of P1 in BMWCCA club racing. Stock, Prepared, Mod. K Stock, K Prepared, D Mod. No P1 at any of the races I have attended.

P1 is most definitely not a BMW CCA class.

I thought that P1 and P2 were SCCA classes to allow World Challenge and Grand-Am type cars to run regionally. At least that's what I've been told.
